Dear Friends,
I have dedicated my career to promoting the city of Saint Paul. As an architectural illustrator and small business owner, I have spent countless hours studying the structures that define our skyline and neighborhoods. But I have also paid close attention to the policies that make up this city's foundations. That is why I have filed as a candidate for City Council in Ward Two.
Accountability and Transparency, Our Neighborhoods and Our Business and Tourism Environments are my campaign’s cornerstones. My campaign is about achievable, progressive ideas, but it is also about leadership and bringing to light things that are unpleasant. We must be concerned with our city's over-dependence on state and federal assistance. The loss of business revenues and misappropriation of tax dollars - in both small and large city projects - will put an even greater tax burden upon residential and commercial property owners and renters in coming years. On the council I will be a fiscal conservative as well as a pro-business, pro-development, and social and environmental progressive. Yes, that combination is possible!
My closest friends and associates have long been from across the political spectrum. My promise to you is this: as ward two's council representative I will remain non-partisan. True inclusiveness, integrity and professionalism will return to this office. I will do all I can to work with the next city council and Mayor Coleman so that we can raise the bar here. My greatest desire as an office holder will be to improve the quality of life for the people who call this ward, and city, home. They are our greatest investors.
Secondly, I will work to notably improve our business and tourism environment. Those who have businesses, work here and visit here are very important investors as well. Ward Two has exceptional features and neighborhoods. Still, there is room for improvement and greater potential. I need your partnership and support to help reach it.
I am seeking office because I care about my hometown. I have something to offer this city, and this ward - something better than the current officeholder's lack of vision. Four years ago it was a close race, a difference of only 334 votes. With your support we can ensure that on November 8, Bill Hosko is the number one choice of a majority of Ward Two voters.
Thank you and best regards,
Bill
